Prejudice is not a thing we can change and while it seems like a bad word .... tell me, will you trustingly go greet a hooded stranger in a dark alleyway at 2am? If not, you are acting on prejudice. (And perhaps even a justified one.)Dealing with prejudice directed at you unfairly, like in your example, is never easy. There is no one thing you can do when someone decides you are untrustworthy based on your genotype. However, present yourself at your best. Deal with your customer's fairly, regardless of their own display of idiocy. Draw your line, never accept disrespect, and never GIVE anyone a taste of their own medicine... this doesn't mean to not take action against one who goes beyond mistrust. Teach others by example and you will eventually minimize the appearance of bad apples among your own orchard we call life.

In my opinion, calling the mind an obstacle is like a fish calling water 'a problem'. The mind is the world of thoughts we live in, similar and distinct from the world of emotions, feelings, and other human dimensions. When faced with an obstacle, first consider what your goal is. What do you wish to gain from whichever endeavor is apparently impeded by your perceived obstacle. This is the first step - Measure your will and measure the price of going forward. In the majority of circumstances, an obstacle is merely a perceptual problem that fades when considered under different perspectives. The next step is to consider how much you truly want to achieve your goal. Measure this against your obstacle and decide if it's worth the effort. This is the second step - Decide what's of more value, your goal or your obstacle's impediment.  If your goal is worth more to you than whatever you perceive your problematic obstacle to be, you will have found the use of the 'obstacle'. You will have valued your goals that much more, or have deprecated them as unworthy of the price. Just like when you go to the store on a budget.  If you decide forward motion, to overcome the obstacle - the next step is to plan your actions. No problem exists without a solution. It's part of the definition. Just like no obstacle exists without a path to block. Persevere in your efforts, look for ways around and under. Change your perspective. If you have decided you have more to gain by going at it, the obstacle has served its purpose and your path will clear. You will find the solution to the puzzle. You will succeed. It is all about placing worth and value to what it is you truly want.

We seem to flail at understanding that a person is a person, and THAT person is THAT person regardless of circumstance or situation. His or her reactions will undoubtedly come from thought processes that don't really differentiate between the personal or the professional.Of course your personal life has effect over your professional, even when we are able to provide an apparent separation.
