I provided pro bono legal services for the BBB of Southern Arizona for several years until the Board voted to start paying me, which was unexpected but for which I was grateful.
In the private sector, I provide surprise discounts to clients that have paid for my services, but have respected me as an attorney and the for the work that I have performed for them. That is done on a case by case basis. I find in general that pro bono clients are less grateful, more demanding, and difficult to work with because they know from the outset that their services are being rendered at no cost. Just me sayin', but in my 46 years of experience I have found this to be true-just human nature.
First, look at the written agreement because, in absence of it being vague or ambiguous, the language of the agreement governs. Second, reconsider the previous sentence and hire an attorney to look at it!

Run, don’t walk! You are not happy in the workplace and if your talents are as represented, you will find a more fulfilling environment elsewhere. There is no happy outcome for you where you are. You also may want to contact a good employment law attorney as well.

Pretend that everyone that you are talking in front of, or on the phone, has no clothes on at all, but you do. It gets hilarious inside if you allow it to and can remove your thoughts from fear to acceptance to confidence.... then you do not have to pretend that scenario any more. Just me sayin.'
