HI! All the continued regulation changes! Especially the major Reverse mortgage regulations changes in 2017 and the most recent 10/2018 FHA collateral Risk Appraisal assessment with the possibilities of requiring a 2nd appraisal. Turn times are horrible over at FHA. Took one week to get a... (more) HI! All the continued regulation changes! Especially the major Reverse mortgage regulations changes in 2017 and the most recent 10/2018 FHA collateral Risk Appraisal assessment with the possibilities of requiring a 2nd appraisal. Turn times are horrible over at FHA. Took one week to get a result on most recent one. Best to counsel customers and realtors of the possible delays and requirements if appraisal flagged and required 2nd appraisal.

Myrtis, Ouch! Sounds like they needed better direction on what to do after death. Sounds like they did not have a good experience. I believe it is always good and important to have all family members attend the HECM counseling. That will help heirs with their memories of what to do and their options. I have helped heirs and realtors get on the right path concerning the property after death even when I am not the loan officer. When things are not known that is when mistakes and unfortunate things happen to families. HUD is always the best resource when direction on how to proceed is needed. We did have major regulations changes Sept 2017. https://www.nrmlaonline.org/20... This is the National Reverse Mortgage Lenders Association and the best consumer and realtor resource for many answers to questions and guides. There is also information on combating elder abuse and how to recognize and report. Check it out. I am a member as a Loan Originator.
