The story actually begins with a couple of guys that worked together at INS many years ago: Don & Alan. Don was an engineer and Alan was a salesman. Don created several software tools for INS customers to help them better understand what was going on with the computers on their networks. As the business world changed with mergers, acquisitions, buyouts, etc. the remaining company owners didn't want to be in the same type of business as it had been. Don approached the owners and asked if they would sign over the intellectual property rights to him for these little freebie tools--and they did. Those tools became the foundation that SolarWinds Inc. was built upon.

Time marched on and SolarWinds was growing rapidly.

Don contacted Alan to ask for help because he wanted to stay focused on the coding aspect and needed an organization to build up a training and services business.

Alan agreed and Corona Technical Services was born. The Corona name is based on the sun's Corona.
