About Us

Lori Goldberg was born in Vancouver, British Columbia where she currently lives, works, and teaches. Her painting practice has evolved since the 1980’s from large, semi­ abstracted industrial and Pacific Northwest environments to still lifes of everyday objects noted for their meditative qualities.
She has received critical attention for her paintings, through support and awards including a Canada Council grant, two Tony Onley Artist's Project scholarships and the Vermont Artist Award. Goldberg's work has been shown in major exhibitions at the Justina Barnike Gallery, University of Toronto, The Vancouver Contemporary Art Gallery, and the KX Kunst Auf Kampfnagel Gallery in Hamburg.
Her work is held in public and private collections including the Canada Art Bank, The Vancouver Contemporary Art Gallery, The City of Vancouver, and the Walton Lofts, Seattle, WA.

Currently Goldberg is teaching at Emily Carr University of Art and Design.

That is a familiar story.. it has happened to me too.  What to do? I started to teach online. Helped to trickle in some income. I won’t go big with YouTube channel etc because it is so not my sensibility. I am an excellent teacher, but can only  go so far. As a single mom, income has always... (more) That is a familiar story.. it has happened to me too.  What to do? I started to teach online. Helped to trickle in some income. I won’t go big with YouTube channel etc because it is so not my sensibility. I am an excellent teacher, but can only  go so far. As a single mom, income has always  been a challenge. I ended up working for a couple of reproduction companies. That has definitely brought in more income. I enjoy coming up with new ideas and I only paint on paper and I make sure I spend only a small percentage of my time doing this work. My problem is , I have over 200 works on paper that I want to find permanent homes for.I have a store on Etsy. No sales. A few online galleries.. no sales, yet.  I have gone back to collectors and offered them some special artist priced artwork. Some purchased. Good idea for you. I also have a program: Borrow today for a better tomorrow! Clients can borrow paintings to hang on their walls for the duration of Covid. They can pay me whatever they can afford for the use of my work and at the end either purchase the work or return it. I have a newsletter Ruth’s to publish once a month.I am behind a couple of weeks for this Month:) You can’t do that with ceramics but you can create payment plans. I am still struggling financially, but at the same time, I feel I can be freer in my studio and explore my creative process in new ways. That is when my energy is there. This pandemic seems to suck it up at times!  Let me know if there’s is anything else I can help you with. We are in it together.
