After 40+ years of building for people I remember this. We were adding to a house on the big island around 1986. The small country A frame was overflowing with a young couple, 3 small daughters and a dog. We installed joists with little girls and the dog's nose poking out of the screen door watching lumber move and nails getting pounded for a couple of days.  When the second sheet of plywood went down, creating an 8x8 foot floor deck, the door pushed open and the dog came out first, sniffing the perimeter and looking over the edge. Then came a tricycle rider making a loop before we shoved her back into the house.  A small moment, but the feeling of creating much needed housing together with being appreciated was really good.
