Hi Sheri, I was anxious to see your post and to respond. I am a career marketer with over 25 years of corporate marketing and recently left the corporate world to open up my on small business. Just so happens I opened a Marketing and Print shop. But I did a lot of research on the internet market companie for these types of things before I made my decision. Here is what I found and you can check my claims, they are completely legitimate. So here they are:

1) The companies I looked at for printing were Moo and Vistaprint. I followed the entire process they give you for the 500 business cards for $10 and right ff the bat---They left the shipping cost out of the promotion, which could be as high as another $15, depending on how quickly you ant them.

2) The 500 for 10 offer provides you with the worst stock you can use for a BC, it was a 12pt 1 sided color.

3) Their templates are beiing used by many so you will lack the ability to stand out. I recently had 2 Orthopedic Surgeons meet and hand each other the same Business Card!! The both chose the same template.

4) If you decide to print on the back of your card their will be an additional cost in the 500 for 10 offer. You will add another $8.

5) Any custom work for logo or design will cost you as well up to another $15

6) Improving the stock to a 14 or 16 pt card, which are more typical will add additional 5-10 dollars

7) My initial 500 Business Cards for $10 ended up costing me almost $50 when all was said and done.

When I received the "Special" the colors were way off from what I had ordered and there were colors bleeding into one another. I had a gray top and a burgundy bottom of the front of the card. The gray part had a strong Burgundy hue.

This is not the first I have heard of people not being satisfied with online "Do it yourself" websites. The other part is, have you ever designed a busness card before? It's not as easy a you think. Most small business owners want to put way TOO much information on them.

Professionals like us will talk to you about your needs and wants, we can show you examples of stocks, types of print (Foils are big now) and give you pricing on the spot which many times ends up cheaper than using the robot. Lastly, the price we tell you is the price you pay because we deliver for free and don't hide shipping costs.

To close, it would be great if small business supported each other and buy local when you can.

Hope this helps, becuase when it comes to websites where you can build your own landing page and website, it's worse.

Kind regards

Chuck Heinz

Chuck, I can tell you put a lot of thought into the answer. However, I already print business cards...for others. When we release a new book, I print some cards with the cover of their new book on them. They do not want to wait and I have 10 printers. I already have Avery templates and a business card cutter. I just print 10 pages and cut them out right away. They can always order more from a large online option, such as you are speaking. So far I have found Carolina Thick Glossy Card Stock 144lb cover 10 pt C2s to be the best because it is slightly shiny. Also, you may be interested...that I do events with a booth and get lots of clients by making on-the-spot business cards. I bring my camera and take photos of items at their booth or use clip art, print and cut them out right there. It is a huge hit and I get a lot of continued business making brochures, web sites and other promotional items.
