In a service-based business like ours, the former is much more important as 99% of our work comes through referrals. For example, if you are looking for a dentist you would much rather take your friend's recommendation that just googling dentists in your area. Likewise, very few people hire us based on an advertisement only or "finding us on the internet". In contrast, a product-based business might benefit much more from advertising if it's targeted to get in front of the audience who has a problem/need that your product meets.
