If you are direct it is much easier. 2) Does your company offer integrations with MAJOR software platforms, online shopping carts, POS systems, Mobile payments, etc? Many 3rd party do not and make it frustrating for your clients.  3) Do you belong to a networking group?? THIS IS KEY THESE DAYS!!! A business networking group such as BNI soared my customer portfolio to a nice residual raise in 1 year. Well worth the time and $$ 4) A combination of social media, standard mail marketing (yes it still works), and email marketing WITH PROPER FOLLOWUP works very well.  Overall, you just need to be visible to your community. EVERY place you go and every person you meet could bring you business. Present yourself well, make yourself available, always provide what you promise and your one customer will turn into 10 because of YOU!

What most people don't know is you do NOT have to use an aggregate such as mentioned in the question to get a "flat rate". I have been an independent agent for 10 years with two MAJOR credit card processing companies. There are so many great options that will save money. Anyone processing over $5,000/mo should NOT use one of these systems. The cost saving is HUGE by going with an interchange rate on your mobile device. However, if you insist on using a "Flat Rate" company I am partial to Pay As You Go by PayAnywhere as it is one of the platforms I provide. Also, if you lose connection at any point PayAnywhere saves the transaction Offline and when service reconnects it auto processes that transaction. First rate (swipe) is 2.69%, the Second (Online or Keyed) is 3.49% + $.19. And if you have an agent set it up you have a personal representative to help manage your account. Just to make savings clear on an interchange account. You could get a rate of .34% + $.12 (for example). Interchange (What Visa, etc charges) on a regulated debit card is .05% + $22. Add your fee and interchange and you pay .39% + $.34 for the entire transaction. You are saving  2.3% on that transaction and using the SAME type of technology!!! Now for businesses who don't process electronic forms of payment to often these "pay as you go" systems are fine because you would not get the above interchange rate. Your rate would be much higher due to minimal processing. But, you can get the interchange pricing for accounts that process regularly with the same type of deposits as what these mobile systems are using at a highly discounted rate.  When a customer disputes: I noticed it was mentioned that Square did not fight a dispute properly. This is common with aggregate companies. Merchant service companies fight on the business owner's behalf. If you turn in an agreement, signed receipt, etc. you will win that case. If you did not do your due diligence with a signature you will not win. Simple as that. I would STRONGLY suggest you find a highly reputable agent to discuss your needs with and discover what your benefits would be in having a traditional merchant account. I am also happy to help if you would like to reach out.

There are companies, such as myself, that will do the SEO on your site, set up your Google Biz > Webmaster properly, integrate Facebook pixels, and monitor it for you at one beginning price. After that if things need to be changed in any way it is an hourly fee. My implementation has been very successful getting organic visibility on the search engines especially mobile searches which consistently bring in new customers for my clients. I will also educate you on how to watch and work on your SEO yourself if that is what you choose. With that being said, there are industries where there is no way around paying for online ads to be seen. Real Estate is one of those markets. An overload of competition unless you live in a very small town. Another fighting factor against small real estate businesses, Zillow, Trulia, need I say more. They take the top ranking spots and it is difficult if not impossible to rank above them with their tech teams constantly monitoring their positions and buying high level search spots. So there are options other than a long contract and expensive monthly pricing for your SEO but you may not get above the "big boys". One thing that is working for my real estate clients, BEACONS. Especially for real estate. You may want to check them out. Cheap to purchase and free advertising right to mobile phones taking prospects directly to your website's contact page.

I believe getting referrals is a "giver's gain" philosophy. The more referrals I give the more I will get. There is a technique for this however. I always let the company I refer know whom I referred to them. This creates a kind of "emotional debt" and that company will more likely refer clients to me because they know I have been referring to them. It's a win win for both and my entire business is word of mouth because of this type of networking system I have in place.

I have always done VERY well maintaining a fair price and giving the best customer service.  I think when you discount your pricing the mentality is the question as to, "why are they discounting? Is the service worth it?", or they wonder if you just don't have enough clients for some reason and have to discount to draw them in. Why don't they have enough clients? Is the product/service bad? I have had these same thoughts when retail stores have such huge sales ALL THE TIME. Are they going out of business? Are they struggling? What's wrong with their products/service? Do I really want to shop here? When you discount your service you discount your quality. It is ok to give a special once in a great while for new customers but when you discount your entire line of services/products I feel that gives a wrong impression of your business.
