Whether in sales, operations, management or ownership, communication in difficult situations will be required.  As mentioned in most of the previous replies, another line of work that plays to your introversion (laboratory, health care, inventory, stocking, etc.) may be your better job path.  If your heart is set on consulting, then you must learn to conquer your introversion, develop your interpersonal communication ability and work diligently on your self confidence.  The problem here is that all of this will take time and diligent effort that will not produce a monetary gain!  Therefore, my suggestion is to seek a different employment path.
