(more) The above picture was taken from Hubspot.com and is meant to show how Inbound Marketing works (This image is also referred to as the customer flywheel). Inbound is a STRATEGY OR METHODOLOGY that employs online digital methods. At the heart of Inbound is CREATING CONTENT and "ATTRACTION". You create content for 2 reasons:  1) To get higher up in Google Search Results (Google loves content) 2) To EDUCATE AND PERSUADE (and therefore "ATTRACT") prospects at each step of their buying journey (as shown in stages above as - "Attract", "Engage", and "Delight"). The goal is to create content by using different format types (Ads, Video, Blogging, and the rest of the smaller words above) that answers prospects' questions at each stage of their buying journey. Again, you address questions in order to educate and persuade but to also build trust, credibility, and authority (Kinda like what I'm doing now!) Outbound Marketing on the other hand centers around REACHING OUT to clients. Inbound Tactics "ATTRACT", whereas Outbound tactics "CHASE".  I for one, don't like saying "I chase clients" when utilizing Outbound tactics. Salespeople in the past were known to "chase" clients aggressively. Today, Outbound Marketers will still reach out and follow up on prospects but they approach it differently. Usually, by employing soft-sell methods and nurturing clients with content. Outbound marketing (which is really TRADITIONAL MARKETING) is still alive and well. Some examples of Outbound marketing include: -  Cold Calling/Emailing (However, since you can do both using a computer and the internet nowadays it can technically also be categorized under "Digital Marketing") - Direct Mail (aka Snail Mail) - Outdoor Advertising - Placing Ads in Newspapers My personal favorite Outbound Marketing methods for any type of business include: - Email Marketing - Building Strategic Relationships I've had great success with both. You can certainly employ other methods but it all depends on your business. If anyone wants to learn more, feel free to reach out to me. Victoria www.doorknockermarketing.com

The saying you must "Always Be Prospecting" is especially true in this climate. Business may be good now, but things always change. I had a client that was a vendor for a large company for over 10 years. One day the company came up to my client and said "We appreciate everything you've done for us over the years but we need someone now who can bring new creative ideas to the table". Then, they ended their contract. Didn't matter that the company had money or that they had been doing business with my client for over a decade. The moral of the story is don't get too comfortable. Clients change vendors for many reasons (Industry changes, nepotism, change management etc.), so it's always best to diversify your clientele. As far as OUTBOUND advertising for B2C is concerned, my favorite channels are EMAIL MARKETING and building STRATEGIC PARTNERSHIPS.
