Final note: If I'm not exactly what you were looking for, no hard feelings! I'd be more than happy to point you in the direction of someone who I think may be, so please don't hesitate to reach out—I have made dozens of quality contacts in the worlds of performing and creative arts. The arts have introduced me to people who are masters of their respective crafts, while also being exceptional human beings. (Tell them I sent ya!)

How We Got Started

My passion for music began from my childhood in an exceptionally musical household (check out my brother at imraankhan.com), where I was, at first, a "pot-and-pan" drummer in my mother's kitchen. Originally inspired as a young guest at a wedding, I developed my abilities over years of performing music in a variety of solo and group settings until I eventually started gigging at events on my own.

(more) Well, despite the variety of services that I offer, this answer can apply across the board: In a word, I think this comes down to effort. But a particularly focused effort that prioritizes the needs of the event/student/client. I make every effort to 1) honor specific requests, 2) to include as many guests as possible in the experience of an event, and 3) to keep energy infectious! Over the years, I've learned that service is all about responding to the needs of the people who are hiring you, which requires truly attentive listening and being able to revise on the fly as needed. All of this is rolled into the word effort. Example 1: When a guest informed me of his son's condition (high-functioning Asperger's) and requested that he be able to grab some sticks and join in, I was fully on board! After a quick double check to clear it with the hosts of the party, we were all able to share a pretty special moment. Example 2: At nearly every event I work, I am thanked by both guests of honor and their invitees for the uncommonly high degree of audience participation that I facilitate (especially at mitzvahs!) Example 3: My 4 year old drum student, Ayden, can sometimes lose focus. It requires a tremendous effort to stay on my toes and constantly engage him in the way that he needs to interact, but it's so rewarding! Especially because responding to his needs can vary from week to week. Example 4: For every pit orchestra gig that I work, I meticulously study any resources I can get my hands on until I know the show front and back without having to think about it. Best case scenario, this can be achieved with OSTs, but I also will sit down and work through books or collaborate without charts as needed. This was the case for the independent musical Daniel that I helped premiere at LIU Post, which was entirely original music that the writer/lead of the show had composed himself.
