How We Got Started

Part Time teaching another agency about third party reimbursement and how that can be a tool to increase your referral base. Soon we had clinicians who wanted to set up Private Practices knocking at my door. We have been in business for over 21 years now and we continue to be a word of mouth referral. We are a one of a kind type service that assists providers to establish their business and grow it. We also understand and specialize in Family Service agency's where we know the many ins and outs of sliding fee scales, funding sources, grant management and accountability to a Board of Directors. We morph to the service needed based on our customers.

That is who got it through for me.

(more) My business is a supportive business to a lot of Behavioral healthcare providers so the impact to their business impacts my business.   We are providing them information so that they can do telehealth and telephonic services as many of the insurance companies have been sending us flyers and information that they will allow reimbursement for these procedures due to COVID-19.  Although behavioral health is not the first line of healthcare impacted there is a lot of anxiety with this crisis and the behavioral health providers we work with are gearing up to be there for the people in their community.  On a personal note I have a very high risk spouse that contact with COVID 19 would prove deadly for him.  So we are staying vigilant and sharing the information we come across with others.

(more) Here is the issue, if you get less expensive coverage you get less coverage.  Now that is not to say that all ACA policies are great.  There is a process I go through in evaluating the benefit of a policy.  If I have a 6500 deductible and my premium is 650 per month then I am paying $14,300 per year before my policy pays a dime.  So can I afford that much out of pocket just to say I have insurance and it never pays anything.  So I tend to look for a policy that has reasonable co payments for my physician visits and pharmaceuticals.  If that is in play than reasonably I can afford to pay 400-600 per month for my premium.    Paying for one of these policies that are cheap that is what you get a cheap policy that may or may not cover much of anything.   For instance under the ACA Mental Health Benefits is a requirement that is not the same for one of these non ACA policies. The ACA is not without issues but the minimum criteria for coverage is a good start.  I have worked towards advocacy of MH providers since 1981 and I do not want to see us go back to the dark ages with MH that each state decides the minimums and the maximums and each state decides who can provide the services.  We have worked far too long and too hard to be recognized as qualified to render the services and be reimbursed.   The allowables are not always great but it helps people to be able to see someone and does not make the services so cost prohibitive.  I could go on because this is a subject matter that I have studied for many years.
