I am embarrassed as a country and disappointed in all those involved. This is certainly not the way I would do business, regardless of your political preferences. Those with the power to make the decisions and find resolutions should not be getting paid either.
Shame on them!

I think the focus on fear of failure as a motivator is inaccurate. As an entrepreneur, one of the biggest mistakes made is to not figure your own sustainability into the monthly finance equation. Traditionally, entrepreneurs will put every available dollar into the business. As a result, they get behind on their fundamental living expenses, turn to credit cards, additional loans, savings, retirement etc. because they are not paying themselves a "reasonable" salary. The first year is tough as the business cultivates, contacts are made, relationships develop, the product/service continues to be produced and the entrepreneur learns to juggle all of these hats, generally only being an expert in the product or service. If the going gets tough, and it will, stamina and fortitude are essential. If there is a glitch in the plan, everything starts to crumble and the entrepreneur has exhausted all revenue streams, including basic living expenses, resulting is a need for bankruptcy, poverty, etc. My advice, keep the finances clear &separate, pushing for sustainability of the crucial members/activities.

I always outline what makes our location, services etc. worth the price. If they are only interested in the price, we may not be the best fit for them. If you truly have a quality product and you have unique offerings, the opportunity speaks for itself. History and positive reviews/testimonies can be your best friend. We want to be sure the client feels like they are getting what they pay for.
