The SBA 'loans' even for non-profits trying to fill in costs of peer support training and care, delayed since January, make it hard for non-profits to continue services that 'for profit' organizations are not providing at all. We will always prefer    the relationship and socialization opportunities of 'presence' but as               nationwide providers linking online has always been half of our network.   Mostly we're just grateful  to continue our missions anywhere, anyway!

So asking ourselves whether or not to open our doors 'wide' again, as before, 'drop in for services or registrations' providing the social connections, support groups, training classes online, (only) doesn't accomplish our mission for holistic health and workforce training. And simply doesn't pay the bills for our overhead, either (did not receive the PPP, and our ER funding has been pending since April 6!) What a dilemma! I am high risk, and practicing 'Safety protocols' outside everywhere, got a stomach virus & seriously ill the last two weeks. So I've been home office, online. What's my biggest concern, the same people who endanger those of us with respiratory disease, coming to work with colds, sore throats (strep) and fevers, and those by cigarette smoking in public spaces, outside their workplace entry doors, huddled in the rain, cold or sleet, are the same ones who won't worry about 'safety precautions' at our Center, the same way we don't allow anyone to smoke anywhere on our property, and we will provide masks, sanitizer, and practice distancing inside our building or no service can be provided. But we may end up spending more to be there, than what comes in? It is less costly to work online, and we've been doing it -- but I think the peer-to-peer quality of some services are compromised.

While we are providing some services 'online', Zoom or by phone, it's not the same experience. Not that it's ad', but I    honestly miss the dynamics of human contact, group think, body   language, with all of the senses engaged. I had always planned to have online support groups researching Avatar's to give some of our military active duty, law enforcement and First Responders personnel more privacy me privacy, and flexible times instead of the usual 9-5 appointments. We will expand online services, but I'm        truly hoping that we see more people in the Center, than not. A  nice balance of both...and may open Tuesdays & Thursdays            starting next week, and remain online the other days...

We have always been 'self-funded' based on a program provided by US DHHS SAMHSA Sustaining Grassroots Community-Based Programs: A Tool-kit for Community and Faith-Base Service Providers (2008) is when I started with SAMHSA as Adjunct Faculty and Technical Assistance provider. It's a great tool-kit that I use for consulting and    the basis for our Warrior Way. Think like an 'entrepreneur'. Have 'four legs to support your income revenue table'. Budget as though one leg has broken off, one leg is shaky, and if only one is left standing, you have a least three months to repair two. If you can't-- get some other organizations, partners, or resources to prop you up, join forces and manpower is the best budget crisis solution I can suggest right now. We're two legs down...due to COVID,   just when the mental health community providers need to be their                 strongest. Anybody got a hammer and some nails?

It's recognizing them by complimenting and thank them in front of others, highlighting their accomplishment, teamwork, how they've effectively           helped one of our clients by doing some 'creative thinking' or service             assistance, because we are holistic health services, it's often about 'basic      needs' food, shelter, work, they've managed to resource for some one. Most of all, I like cooking for them. I take the time to make some lunches,    bake some cookies, give them a card, a movie ticket, or dinner gift                 certificate, or just stopping the their office, and talking about how they are doing, and if they need a break..an extra day off...just about kindness,           really.
