I was a writer at a small newspaper and was asked to start taking some of my own photos... that led to going back to school to study photography and working my way up to eventually work as a photojournalist at the San Diego Union-Tribune. After a few years, I left the paper to concentrate on building a freelance photography business specializing in editorial and commercial work, which often blend together.
