About Us

I am the owner of Amp’d Designs, helping businesses get noticed through bold, unforgettable Branding & Web Design that is deeply rooted in both strategy and business goals, and looks beautiful too. I love working with fearless and ambitious entrepreneurs on designs that convey the intention and quality they put into their work.

I hve a decade of experience as a professional designer, hold a BFA in Communications Design from Pratt Institute in Brooklyn, NY, and worked as an art director in NYC before moving to the mountains of Asheville, NC.

I'm also the founder of Make Your Design Matter ®, which provides resources and education to help ambitious self-employed designers grow their businesses.

How We Got Started

To me, creators are incredibly inspiring: entrepreneurs, individuals, and groups with fearlessness and ambition. My goal as a graphic designer is to be a resource for business owners to help them grow and amplify their brands.

Initially I found my path to design through music, working with bands and musicians on album art and gig posters. In college, I pivoted to focus on branding for businesses. While that might seem like a big shift, the common thread has always been inspiration and admiration of those I have the pleasure of collaborating with.

Occasionally there are things that my competitors are better fit to handle than I am! There have been several times where I've recommended a "competitor" for a project. Collaboration is important, and I try to align myself with businesses that have similar services, as well, so we can promote each other. Furthermore, you never know when a competitor might not be able to take a job and need to send work to someone else, so it's beneficial to help each other out!

I have had a lot of customers reach out to me first by phone, or decide to call me halfway through a project. While you mentioned this isn't the case with your business, I think it builds credibility to offer options for ways to contact you. Furthermore, I have decided not to contact other businesses simply because they didn't have a phone number available and I needed to get in touch faster than email.

I'm a graphic designer, and unfortunately in my industry there are many online websites where businesses can get a quick logo for $5. I could go on about why these are negative platforms, but above all they devalue the services of professional designers, so I am constantly stuck trying to explain why this isn't realistic. I also enjoy the challenge of helping potential customers understand how important branding is important and why it will help their businesses. It's rewarding when they are open to working with me to help them grow their businesses through design!

I have a clause in my contract that specifies that after 30 days there is a 2% monthly charge for every overdue invoice. I also state that final files are not delivered until the final payment is made. Sometimes I don't enforce this if I trust the customer. And I've never had to apply the late fees.
