About Us

FCI is a family-owned and operated business. My beloved wife of 47 years and soul mate passed quite suddenly in 2019 and instead of custom homes, my son and I are now focusing on doing small jobs again, such as home repairs, small additions, custom woodworking, kitchen and bath remodels, etc. - we're here if you need us! We have a complete woodworking shop, spray finishing building, and welding setup. We are fully insured and have a NC unlimited building license.

Jim and Kris do the majority of the work on each project themselves, but we also work with our long time partner sub contractors as needed, thereby ensuring the quality and attention to detail that FCI has become known for. We are fully committed to pursuing perfection in each job that we do. We are skilled and we have over 45 years (75 years if you count both of us) of hands on experience working in all types of construction and woodworking -we've done it all. You can find us on Facebook at Forward Construction Inc.

I am also personally involved with presenting The Prem Rawat Foundation's Peace Education Program, which is an awesome 10 class course that teaches us how to find the peace and other resources that already exist within each one of us. The course is offered freely to any organization who would like to host one. For more information on the Peace Education Program please visit https://tprf.org/peace-education-program/

How We Got Started

I started in 1975 doing small remodels and home repairs to support our family. We moved on to additions, and eventually to building homes, building over 45 homes in the Asheville area. Myself, my wife Sue, my brother Mike, and my son Kris have been and still are Forward Construction Inc., and my daughter Kelly and other son Tom, who also does smaller jobs, have always been an inspiration as well. We have always believed in doing only one job at a time, and doing the work ourselves. For now at least, we have decided to focus on smaller jobs again.
