Totally depends on the prospective; as an accountant I set my clients up on a Sage product (formerly Peachtree), dependent on their needs (if they "twist my arm" I will use QuickBooks desktop). From the business owner ("moonlighting" as a bookkeeper or accountant) Waves or QuickBooks online are...

Totally depends on the prospective; as an accountant I set my clients up on a Sage product (formerly Peachtree), dependent on their needs (if they "twist my arm" I will use QuickBooks desktop). From the business owner ("moonlighting" as a bookkeeper or accountant) Waves or QuickBooks online are popular, and tend to be user friendly. The drawback to the business owner model is, once they are successful and look to transition the bookkeeping or accounting responsibilities to a firm the data is going to be converted to a to Sage or QB desktop versions and all the knowledge acquired over the years will be lost. The user friendly software, just don't offer the functionality you will need once you grow and/or firms aren't going to have experience with the newer software (considering Sage and QB has over 90% of the market share).
