About Us

We specialize in a unique treatment approach called Functional Manual Therapy (FMT). Functional Manual Therapy is an integrated approach to patient care, where the body is seen as an interconnected dynamic system. Changes in structure, posture, and movement are correlated to soft tissue structures and the application of specific treatment techniques to normalize any identified dysfunctions. We can assist the high level athlete to perform at an optimal efficiency for strength and performance to prevent injury. We have 2 locations: Boise and Meridian, ID

How We Got Started

Jill Thompson, PT founded PT 180 in 2002 when the medical PT model did not match her view of physical therapy. She has trained all her staff with continuing education in osteopathic treatments and neuromuscular techniques. We value 1:1 care for optimal results and our growing practice offers multidisciplinary care including acupuncture, massage, cranial-sacral technique, fascial distortion technique and movement training. You can feel the difference!

I can't tell you how many patients are shocked when we perform osteopathic therapy to mobilize their body for pain relief. I once has a patient with neck pain bring in her sneakers asking when we were going on the treadmill...I responded, "Don't you think we should treat your neck?" She asked, "You do that?" We don't even have a treadmill, or a gym for that matter! We facilitate proper function with manual therapy and instruct concepts for self care. PT is not all equal or cookie cutter!

Paper work time is an additional 20%-30% of your day. If you see 8 hrs of patient care, you have an additional 2 hrs of paperwork. We would like to convince patients to take a 30% cash discount on services to ease our load, but even when people have a $5000 deductible, they still want to bill their insurance. Need attitude adjustments!

Stairs, uneven walking surfaces, bars in bathroom, removal of throw rugs, dangerous furniture and patient's independence with transfers, walking and toilets. I don't deal a great deal with rehab but just my thoughts. I just had an experience where the patient was getting paid for our services and was cashing the checks using them for personal expenses. We bill private health insurance and work out a payment plan so patients do not get treatment for free. That way, they have some responsibility for their own care. I will carry only a $500 lean before they have to make payments. I currently have $25,000 with overdue MVA bills.
