The great thing about sales is the crazy characters you meet along the journey.

While selling radio advertising, I used to call on a local car dealer. And one late Friday afternoon, with my boombox in hand, I walked into the store to play their new radio commercial. And I was able to meet the GM in their service department. 

So, the conversation was something like this.

Hi Tom. I am here, and excited to play your new commercial.
Sounding a little frustrated, he replied with what are you doing here this late? Are you still working?
I shuffled my feet a bit. And as my voice cracked, nervously answered, um, yes. Again, sounding even more frustrated, Tom said as he pointed to the bathroom door. I am going to walk in here. Then bellowed orders like a drill Sargent on crack. He said you stand there! And play it!
What else could I do. So outside the bathroom door, as customers and employees stared at me like I had three eyeballs. I went ahead and hit play.
After what seemed like hours, just 60-seconds later, the bathroom door reopened. And grinning from ear to ear, Tom said That’s fine. Thanks pal!

Tom ended up being one of my best clients.
