How We Got Started

With Tammy's farm-girl background, small business entrepreneur experience and knowledge she went back to school full-time to receive her bachelor's degree in accounting while working full-time in pathology and raising her family.
She pulled together and followed her long-time passion for organizing, problem solving and numbers.
She continued to work full-time in pathology (24/7 scheduling) while building her business organically with local business owners in retail, lodging, IT consulting and a variety of service companies. She has expanded her business to be able to work remotely across the United States of America.
Tammy's dream, of bringing small business owners her passion for functional organization, numbers and timely, meaningful reports for business discussions and growth on a full-time basis, came true in 2016.

My questions: 1. Why are you not utilizing CDK Consulting or CDK in your logo?  Another idea is to get away from letters and use "items" that suggest military veterans and jobs/work or the MV letters with suggestive job symbols. Looking at your mission statement & purpose may help with branding. Do you have a tagline? You could tie in the military veterans job assistance / life balance/ new journey here. For me figuring out my business name and then the tagline helped me to figure out my logo ... on the second try :-) I hope this helps. Tammy

Just because it is a premium $$$ doesn't mean it is right for your business or worth the expense. Cheap isn't always better either. Been burnt both ways. I look at reviews, ask questions of other business owners you respect and want to emanate in your business. I ask family & friends for personal references and their experiences. Don't be afraid to research and ask questions. Listen to your instinct. I've had connections with some very personable small business owners who charge big fees for what they do but I had doubts and listened to that. I've learned to follow my budget (there's a lot of free continuing education), network with confidence and focus on what I'm great at and hire for those things I don't want to "waste" my time on. When I started, I did local networking (which led to national exposure), joined accounting/bookkeeping FB & LI groups to get my name out there. I'm still growing my business but thought I would share what I've learned thus far.

Owners and project managers are used to being in control all (most) of the time. Obviously these are the people we want in those positions because they take ownership and it is their behind to get chewed if something goes wrong. Such as a bill being paid but the subcontractor didn't complete the work or it was subpar, etc. Some people don't like change. Implementation is gradual and they have to see that it makes sense, usually with a practice run. Show them how it saves them time which = money.  The owner, project manager and/or supervisors have to see/understand that the WIP schedule is valuable information. WIP schedule = money. Suggestion: Draw out a simple flow chart of what the process looks like, show them the checks and balances (bill entered but not paid until approved by owner or project manager) and how it can improve their cash flow. Visuals can be very effective if clear and precise. I hope this text doesn't post as big as it appears when I'm typing it - posting with uncertainty ;-)
