It drives me nuts when "credit card" people make claims misleading claims like, sign with me and pay no fees. I have been in the credit card business for 20 years so I'm confident that I've been at this longer than 99.99% of the people who will chime in on Alignable or any other online forum. I typically do not get involved in online chat groups but the questions and responses so far have compelled me to add my two cents. Feel free to check out my resume on LinkedIn. Below are the actual top processor in the US. In some cases you can pass the fees on to your customers but candidly speaking this approach will back fire for most small merchants. Good rule of thumb is that if your competition are passing on fees then you "may" want to consider it. Also, there are rules for passing on fees so make sure you work with a expert in the businesses to guide you on this approach. Altiras boards our merchants on Vantiv (#1) or TSYS (#9) based on reliability, functionality and security. Square is an aggragator meaning they share one large merchant account with millions of small merchants. This is how they offer micro processing without the typical fees. The overall rate of 2.75% is high but on small volume or low ticket sizes this really doesn't matter. Here is the rule my team uses when meeting with small businesses. If you are doing less than $5,000 in credit card sales per month Square may be your best option. If you are doing more than $5,000 per month you should consider exploring other options (not in all cases). When looking for a processing partner look for a company who offers fair and transparent rates / fees. Also, find someone who can service you on a ongoing basis. Most importantly find someone you like and trust.

My advisors meet with about 750 business owners each month. We have amazing digital information but I can say with certainty that business owners appreciate tangible items such as cards and brochures. I hear it all the time. The cost is so Minimal that Im not sure why anyone wouldn't hand both...

My advisors meet with about 750 business owners each month. We have amazing digital information but I can say with certainty that business owners appreciate tangible items such as cards and brochures. I hear it all the time. The cost is so Minimal that Im not sure why anyone wouldn't hand both out. I only spend about $250per month for 1000 full color tri-folds. If you are targeting 20 something's then maybe tangible items aren't needed.
