Joel Berman is the founder and president of Joel Berman Architecture & Design, Ltd., a Chicago architecture firm specializing in adaptive reuse and heritage restoration for restaurant, hospitality, institutional and residential development. Project work includes the award-winning preservation and renovation of a 1920s White Castle Hamburger building, and conversion of a 1906 Chicago fire station into a major video production and editing facility.

Joel is a registered architect, and he is a member of the Association of Licensed Architects (ALA). He is certified as an Accredited Professional in Building Construction and Design by the United States Green Building Council’s Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design (LEED-AP). He is designated by the City of Chicago as a Self-Certified Architect, and certified NCARB for fast architectural licensure resiprocity with

I am an architect, but my issues in business development are the same as a contractor. 1) I vet the potential client over a phone call; 2) if the project seems like a possibility, I schedule a free one hour consultation, either on site or by video. 3) If the potential client seems viable but the... (more) I am an architect, but my issues in business development are the same as a contractor. 1) I vet the potential client over a phone call; 2) if the project seems like a possibility, I schedule a free one hour consultation, either on site or by video. 3) If the potential client seems viable but the project is not in our wheelhouse, I refer them to another architect. 4) If a General Contractor or Subcontractor that we work with regularly refers a client, I will automatically meet with them in order to respect the ongoing business relationship.

If you have a limited budget, create your own website in WIX or Squarespace, they have superb templates that are much easier to set up than WordPress; they can host for about $100/year. If you pay someone, make sure they give you total access to make changes yourself when they complete the site... Usually a totally customized site built from scratch is unnecessary.
