Be social. It's the essence of social media. Be human and not a "salesperson." As others mentioned, it's about engaging with your audience, adding value, and showing the human side of the business. People are more likely to purchase from a business they can relate to. Can connect to.

However, social media is a marketing channel and should be considered part of a broader integrated plan and strategy. A "purchase" rarely happens from organic social--especially when an organic post is likely to reach only 1-3% of your followers. It's rarely the last touch conversion. Organic search is. So make an impact and a connection in your target audience's lives and maybe later they'll look you up on Google and become a client. I'm a big fan of BRANDING. Identifying the who/what/how/why of any business will give you the fundamentals to communicate on social and have a story to tell. Make sure all your other channels are aligned with the company's vision, branded, and ready to convert, ie: website. Be a storyteller and add value

The old business adage: about 20% of your customers produce 80% of sales. this is especially true with e-commerce. Your loyal and dedicated customers will purchase the highest avg order value. Double-down on your loyal customers. Leverage emails. Make them feel special--vip promotion, limited qty merch, etc.
Double-down on Branding. A powerful brand with equally powerful storytelling and client experience will help push the needle. Have a powerful story for why/where/what/how, brand values, and strong brand visual/graphic
Notice how I left advertising for last. There's no point in spending money to drive traffic if you don't have the above sorted out to help convert the traffic.
Build meaning experiences, brand, and product offerings first. Then get the eyeballs.
I can chime in here and hopefully add some value. Before thinking tactically (social media, content marketing, paid media, email marketing, etc.) we always work with our clients to take a step back and develop/focus on your business's bigger picture.

I can chime in here and hopefully add some value. Before thinking tactically (social media, content marketing, paid media, email marketing, etc.) we always work with our clients to take a step back and develop/focus on your business's bigger picture.
More specifically, who/where/how/why your business exists, what are your company's mission/vision/values, what makes your product different from the competition, etc. Who is your target audience? Without these fundamentals, you won't have the right communication strategy for any of the tactics I mentioned above and neither one of them is going to effectively communicate what products/services you are looking to provide to your audience. From a tactical perspective, especially when marketing budgets are limited, I find search engine marketing to have a strong return on investment. SEM is a mid-funnel tactic where the person searching for your industry/product keywords has intent. We have some resources here that could be of help: https://splurgemedia.com/blog. Feel free to browse. I'm happy to help navigate and answer any questions as well, just shoot me a message.
Take care, Rod
