Always ask and get it in writing that the general contractor will be responsible for all work performed on your property.  Who are your subs, how long have they been in business and are they insured.  Most professionals will give you all the information you need to make a decision on who to hire or not to hire! A caring attitude will bring repeat business to the general contractor, so it is important to have a great rapport with that person.
