The immediate pop-up is irritating; maybe set it to show up after 15 seconds or so. I think moving the "About Us" blurb to the home page would give a little more credibility and help clear up the purpose of the website and what you have to offer. Images and copy need work.

Your home page looks like an unprofessional DIY site and I am not moved to go any further. But then again, I'm not your target market, so my opinion is...my opinion.

You’re right, Kathy. Some don’t know the value of updating their website on a regular basis. Many think of it as a business brochure more than an evolving presence. A dynamic, regularly-updated website will improve your search results, add value to your product/service, and convert more casual visitors into customers.
It’s an ongoing process and you have to partner with a good designer/developer who understands your marketing goals and will work with you to improve and update content and continually enhance SEO. If you’re not getting the results you want, find another developer. Recently, a new client told me he had never been happy with his website. I asked, “Why did you pay for it, if you didn’t like it?” Fear and lack of knowledge create a pain point for some business owners and will keep them stuck. It can be difficult to find someone with the necessary experience and skills who is also willing to work with your budget and help you achieve your goals. Keep looking; they’re/we’re out there!
For some business owners, DIY will work. But, if you’re in a competitive area and seriously looking to grow your business, your website is your number one marketing tool. It should be maximized by a pro and updated with fresh content regularly.

Your emails could be marked as spam for a number of reasons:
1. Content - too many links, saying "free" too many times, large images, spammy subject line.
2. Your IP address could be associated with spam and rejected by an email provider.
3. If your previous emails have a low open rate or high bounce rate, it's assumed to be spam.
4. Your domain may be blacklisted - sometimes, all it takes is 2-3 people reporting your email as spam for everything coming from your domain to be considered junk.
I would recommend starting over with another email service. Clean up your list and start fresh. I've used MailChimp and MadMimi for years. You can surely shop around and find a service for $10-20/month for 1,500 contacts. If getting into the inbox is a vital part of your business plan, it's worth a nominal monthly fee.
I'd also suggest having a pro take a look at what you're sending before you try again. Good luck!

Learn who your customers are and use Facebook's deep targeting options to focus your efforts. Of course, it won't work for all types of businesses but, combined with a great website, Facebook can be an excellent tool to grow your customer base and increase revenue.
Do your research, start with a small budget, and fine-tune until you see the results you want.

I only recently created a twitter account so I haven't seen any results yet. I've used facebook ads with some success in the past, but don't have a profile on there. I think both platforms are full of useless chatter and self-promotion. I also think your question..."Why are businesses like us still paying for and providing any content to them at all?" should be asked of yourself, "Why am I...?"
If it's creating resentment and negative energy in your life, let it go.
