What have you been grateful for this year?

With holidays approaching, this is the perfect time of year to take a moment and reflect on all of the things we are grateful for.  Being grateful may sound a bit trite, but it’s also the number one, hands down, fastest way to bring more positivity and less negativity into your work and life.

Acts of gratitude are selfless and done unconditionally. You can use gratitude as a private exercise of reflection or you can express your gratefulness to show people that they are appreciated.

You don’t have to wait to feel gratitude; you can invoke it proactively.

If you don’t have a gratitude practice, consider starting one. Science has gotten involved in studying gratitude, especially in the field of positive psychology, and the benefits to health and well-being are enormous. It can benefit your business, too, when you show appreciation for business partners, employees, customers, and vendors.

Here are five easy ways to bring more gratitude into your work and life:

  • Think of five clients you can send thank you notes to. You can write them by hand or send a greeting card with a thank you message.
  • On your customer service email templates, add a line before the closing that says, “We appreciate your business.” It does make a difference.
  • Quick, right now, think of five things you are grateful for and list them off the top of your head. After you’re done, you should feel a little bit happier than you did a few minutes ago.  Use this tool after you feel a negative emotion to move you back into positivity faster.

  • Find part of your day that you don’t love, such as your commute to work. Change it to your gratitude commute, finding things along the way to be grateful for. You might be surprised how great you feel when you arrive at work.
  • Let one of your employees know that you’re grateful for the work they do for you. You can do this verbally, with a note, or with a gift.
  • When you practice gratitude, you can’t help but feel happy for the things you have in your life.  Try these five things on a regular basis to bring more gratitude and positivity into your work and life.

Being grateful is never trite. Seven years ago I was diagnosed with cancer on my left tonsil.

I am still grateful for all of the medical professionals that "cured" me. (That's my ENT's word, not mine.) My GP tells me every year how blessed I am because he sees similar cases.

I've always been thankful for every day, but ever since my diagnosis I've upped my game. I'm still able to use my voice, my writing, editing and proofreading skills.

In 2016 I started my third career, one in which I work in the education and development of young people. Following a colorful 25 years in broadcasting (including part ownership of two radio stations) and another 15 years demonstrating medical software and building and narrating its training programs, my work day has never been this rewarding.

In 2018 I accomplished at least five things I'd never done before. I plan to do the same in the new year.

This life is a gift. Treat it that way and become fulfilled, this time of year and every other.

The first thing I am grateful for is my surgeon. I was diagnosed with breast cancer in May and had a double mastectomy in July. My surgeon did a great job and got it all. I am grateful that because of him, I can continue to live. I am grateful for my clients who did not leave me because I was ill, and continued to send me books to edit to keep my mind off the cancer. I am grateful for my husband for not losing it when he found out I was diagnosed, and being a rock through this all. I am grateful that I have a new lease on life, and will make the most of every day I  have. Hopefully, there will be years and years ahead of me.

I'm grateful for the chance to launch a freelance writing business while I still work full-time and have that as a safety net I can leverage.

I am grateful for all my clients, my business, all the animals I get to take care of ( which is a great privilege),my dog Harmony ( unconditional love), my health, and many other things the list is too long to list it. I love my business and I am really grateful that I get to do what I really love which is being around animals everyday and the fact I have started my business in 2014 and I am still successfully running it and taking care of animals is just amazing. I am so lucky. And my dog Harmony I am very grateful for her in my life . She is 3 years old now and she is wonderful.

I am grateful for my team!  My writer/content coordinator and my photographer are so dedicated to creating beautiful magazines each month, and love what they do as much as I enjoy my part of the job, working with the clients.

Absolutely......everyday that I wake up I'm grateful to see a new day, new opportunity,  new way to connect with people.

I am grateful that CBD has come into my life and my family and friends lives as well. It is changing the future of health care and helping people take their lives back.

In my circle of friends alone I have helped dozens become pain free, recover from chemo and other debilitating problems, it is such a feeling of happiness when they thank me for introducing them to the oil

They are grateful as am I

I am grateful for the courage and patience god has given to me to face the challenges of life and be successful.

I liked the answer about having gratitude for the toughest part of your day.  Because I am self employed and working to build my own company to the next level many times I forget I did it myself.  No salary etc.  no family inherited money.

    And

I am grateful for my health, my new home in a new town that I love and meeting new people that have been very welcoming and so many other things!
