Make sure you are doing what you love. Have other people help you with the things you are not good at or you don't enjoy. Celebrate small successes. If something doesn't work, assess, make changes, and try again
I second Ruth's comment. If you've chosen something you're really passionate about as your work, motivation is a given. I only get bogged a little with the parts of soloing I dislike. Subcontract them if possible, because there's probably another solo out there who's passionate about accounting and billing. Oh, and beverage dates with other solos for fun and support.
Do you know how to keep yourself motivated as a solpreneur? Absolutely.
This requires many things. The idea of excellence in all you do. This must be demonistrated not only to yourself but to your clients. You must walk your talk. It requires that you use health and fitness every day. In additional it will take a focus on personal development in the 7-10 major areas in your life and business. It requires you use subconscious reconditioning to eliminate all the negative self-talk a person goes through every day. Best success, Michael Kissinger-Phone xxx-xxx-xxxx
Do you know what energizes you Jeanne. Christine Comaford has a great exercise I outlined in one of my blogs. Where Does Your Time Go - Energy Allocation Chart - http://strategicdiscipline.positioningsystems.com/.... It shares an example. For me I know learning/writing/presenting/speaking energize me. What energizes you? When you know, invest your time in those activities. It will keep you motivated, sparked and inspired.
Staying motivated as a solopreneur is just as important as getting clients. I've been a solopreneur for 40 years. I've had my ups and downs and long time spans between income. What motivates me most and how I kept bouncing back were affirmations on my walls that reminded me why I don't like working for others. And to always do "what makes me come alive." Sometimes it's not easy. But I don't care, the freedom to make decisions without someone telling me they I'm wrong. I usually figure that out anyway if the decision is not the right one.
Sometimes I learn more because of bad decisions I've made. But, you can only fail up because you become a wiser person for it. Of course their are many reasons why a solopreneur might not stay motivated:
1. Poor diet and little sleep.
2. Not building an outside network with which to connect regularly.
3. Not joining other business owners, large and small at business events to discover what's going on in the world and networking to brand your services to those you meet.
4. Have a couple of solo-preneur buddies who you call when things get frustrated. Bend their ear. But make sure you support them when their time comes to let off some steam or if they want to talk something through, not necessarily to get advice but to sound it out to some one else so they can discover the solution on their own.
If you are not doing these things already, set these opportunities up for yourself now. If you want someone who can coach your through this I'm your gal. You can reach me through this platform. Have a great day.
Create a short concise future vision statement and take it seriously i.e. practice it daily e.g. look to see what actions today will help you fulfill this vision. This will take your attention off the past and worries and put it squarely on the future and resolution.
In my opinion, most people spend most of their time waiting for motivation to strike, instead of focusing on Inspiration.
Here's what I mean...
Motivation is external and usually temporary. Inspiration is internal and will act as a continual catalyst to move us closer to our goals.
The best method I know of to increase our Inspiration is to clarify the vision of our ideal selves and ideal our businesses.
Once your story (your Why) is crystal-clear...you'll notice an unending source of Inspiration that will get you through the toughest times.

I agree with the previous two answers! I believe you should always keep your 5 deep level why in your mind..asking yourself why you are doing what you do, then asking “why is that?” (2nd level) then “why is that?” (3rd level) and so on until you have answered the question two more times so that you are 5 Levels deep. That’s the root of your first answer. (Your surface why) Keep that answer in the forefront of your mind every singleday and it will become the foundation of everything you do in your business and life, motivating you to persevere no matter what.
