Do good work and tell your clients you appreciate referrals. Tell your clients that the sooner they have a good estimate the sooner they will get the design options and time spent in design reduced. Drop a note or two out to the local school board and other governmental agencies that your estimation services could help them with their capital budgets.
In bound marketing. Hire someone that is a great writer and has a track record of success with inbound marketing. Put information and success stories on your website that your prospects won't get from your competitors. Give your prospects inside perspective of your industry. You will grow your business this way.
Differentiate yourself by doing appointments confirmations by having your staff call the day before to confirm all your appointment's, vehicle wraps to advertise your firm etc.
Many years ago I had a shirt that I really liked. It was comfortable, looked good and washed well. One day I went to wear my most favorite shirt and darn it a button was missing. If you have ever tried to find a match for a missing button you know how imposible it is. So I was a little sad that I would have to retire my favorite shirt. It was then that I noticed an extra button sewed to the shirt tail. I was very happy. Happy I did not have to retire my shirt, also very happy with the company that made the shirt. I was so happy that I made a note to buy more shirts made by that company. All because of an extra button. At Sunik Roofing we have many extra buttons. What is your extra button?
Truly understand your customer. You might have a target audience and dont even know it. When companies focus their efforts on a single type of industry and a single type of customer, then they can start to find out who fits and who does not. Create a persona and then make sure that your messaging fits that type of customer.
Start with good sales people - invest in them through sales training or yourself if you are the primary sales person. In 2015 we developed a prospecting plan it is small only 19 pages but it helps keeping us focused. On the bottom of each page is says "The best source of new customers is through current customers". Referrals I still have trouble asking for them but I'm getting better at it. lastly follow up I have dropped the ball so many times because I was doing 20 things now I am dedicated to sales.
I decided to use Infusionsoft CRM to stay on top of open quotes. It is automated so once a quote or bid is out there, you can set up a way to stay in touch. Use Instagram too with pictures of jobs you have done and learn how to use hashtags.
