How did social media effect your business?

Everywhere around has a Facebook page, an instagram page, a twitter profile and a snapchat account. I was just wondering how it improved you clientele and how they reacted.

Social has brought us more visibility and in turn more POs. The IoT can be daunting. We hired a person whos  main job was social media. We meet  once a month to review the coming months strategy, put it in place. Random touches during the  week to answer direction / creative questions.

Its a large undertaking if you want to do it correctly, a biz needs to have dedicated staff for this venture or else you risk loosing the base you're trying to build.
Well, I'm a dinosaur. I believe in person-to-person, face-to-face, handshake-to-handshake contact. I minimally use social media, though I do have daily, automatic tweets to tout my books. I have an editing/writing service and have clients who are both local and from afar. I do have to credit LinkedIn for some of that.

However, for 25 years before that, I owned and operated a construction company, and most of my business came from personally meeting people  at industry functions, chamber of commerce gatherings, Toastmasters, and various organizations I belonged to.

The internet is cold and impersonal. People do business with people they like, and they like to put a face, a smile and handshake to the company. There's no substitute for human contact.
Sorry, but the correct word is "affect" not effect.
Affect is a verb, effect is usually a noun, but can be used as an adjective.
But, back to the subject.  We have just started our Facebook account, so we don't know for sure yet, but we feel that it will increase our visibility and in turn, our business.
DON'T USE SOCIAL MEDIA,I HAVE A 9 MONTH BACKLOG OF WORK AND DON'T HAVE TIME FOR SOCIAL MEDIA.I USE WORD OF MOUTH FROM MY CUSTOMERS,I TURN DOWN 10 TO 15 JOBS EVERY DAY,I TAKE CATE OF 1570 TRUCKS RIGHT NOW AND CAN'T DO ANYMORE
Very good, however it can also swing the other way very quickly, you have to measure your responses because people seem to think it is a grand stand for people to tell you how you should be running your business.  Just be aware of what you post and or respond.
Social media especially Facebook has helped me in hiring new employees and advertising getting our services out there. Try it. But you have to be constantly on top of it or it won’t work!
Social media can be great until one bad apple spoils the whole bunch. Just keep up with reviews and respond as quickly as possible to keep your rep good. Good luck but it does work.
it has had a big impact on revenue the best advertising decision ive made !!!
The younger people seem to engage the most, but not real high activity. The star rating system is the poorest scale invented on the Internet. As a formally trained and experienced psychometrician , I cannot believe they are used and people put any kind of merit on them. Not only are star raters biased, but perceptions vary widely on what they are rating. Additionally your business competition will rate you and leave phony stories that are painful to get erased. In short, social media ratings are meaningless! Social media is something that adds to a businesses duties and tasks, but has superficial meaning. However, the online mapping information is pretty good, but again the star ratings are meaningless.
In short, it took my business to the next level
