How Did You Find Your Last Photographer?
Based on word of mouth? existing relationship? Social media ad? Google search? What led you to them? I'm ramping up my marketing efforts and want to concentrate on places where people are likely to be.

Kay Lewis hit it on the head - find the lane you want to be in as a professional photographer and speak to those audiences directly. If it's weddings, be sure to be on bridal websites and in bridal magazines. If you're specializing in real-estate, the thought is the same. Another recommendation I might offer is to find someone who is at a similar developmental level, like a website designer, who is looking for a photographer. That way, as each of you are out winning business, the other is inherently doing the same on your behalf.
Referral from a fellow business owner
Real estate adds often as a result of self taken pictures fail miserably to capture the real essence of a room
Recently I've seen how professional photographers with lighting and professional development can sell a home sometimes before the listing hits the street
Recently as a result of wheatgumgraphics.com this happened
So my opinion is stop trying to cheap ou and save a dime when a professional will make you more than it costs
FB ads/campaigns and hitting content hard on my blog and FB page. The brides are on social media so you need to have a good strategy for social platforms.
Advertising as a photographer should be based on the type of work you are looking for. For example, as a wedding photographer one would get a booth at the local bridal fair usually held early eacch year, make friends with some local bridal shops, find bridal consultants working in your area and network with them, bridal magazines. You need to base advertising on your specialty. There are also sites like Model Meyhem where both models and photographers can set up profiles to find jobs as well as find individuals to help build your portfolio if you are going to be shooting people.
I found my photographer through ASID (American Society of Interior Designers). He is an Architectural & Interiors photographer who built his relationships in the industry by joining our professional organizations and attending events.
