I was going to hire. I have given up. Not many candidates to choose from. Also, it's gotten much worse with lots of unqualified competition to contend with.
I have had a few people working for me for some time and we have a very well set up share structure with payment and bonuses which are extremely affective and positive to the two I have hired. I see no reason to hire more. I am very hands on and have been for 30 years. That way I am on control of my business and can ensure services to my customers.
I had planned on hiring some people to add to the family, not just make employee's and the work ethic, high demands with lack of experience has blown my mind. I don't think some people understand they are forcing technology to replace them. Instead of hiring an employee I can now take 5 extra minutes to have a very inexpensive software generate accurate data. No lunches, sickdays, work comp, texting on the job etc.  I had to remind some applicants, they were looking for a job for a reason.
I'm a sole proprioritorship and can't afford to hire anyone.  Efforts to sell my wares at the Roanoke Festival in the Park in May 2019, were totally unsuccessful.  I sold nothing at all.  Vendors around me had similar problems, and felt this year's Festival was the worst ever.  It was my first, so I can't honestly compare.  The only time I need helpers is when I participate in an event, and those arefar and few between..
We were fortunate to have grown another 15% in the first 6 months and brought on two more amazing associates!
I hired and so far it's been excellent
We are still a relatively small company and not in need of hiring at the moment. However, one of the things we do is give businesses the ability to see which potential new hires will qualify the company for hiring incentives and tax credits. And if you hire a qualifying candidate, our system will file all necessary paperwork so you can receive the money.
