It depends on the lifespan of your product. We have several clients we work with that use consumable products. Different customers will have varying purchases and this needs to be reflected in the frequency you contact them via email for deals/new products. A good email platform can help you organize and build strong campaigns that increase ROI from those repeat clients.

I usually send out an email to my whole client base every month letting them know what is on sale and special priced packages that are available for that month. Then as clients respond I will email them or contact them by other methods like text, messenger if I have something I think they might like so they get it faster! My clients really like to be informed quickly!
I rarely send emails unless they contact me first, which opts them in to received emails so I don't get in trouble with the Can Spam laws. I use paid advertising and "invite" them to contact me for more info or free samples.
When doing follow-up emails I try to do that at least once a month. It gives the business some follow-up revenue but also helps keep your clients information up to date. For anyone that fills out information and doesn't follow through it also gives the representative some additional incentives to offer the person some of their product in samples. E-commerce is just one way to maintain customer clientele.

Sometimes I send out emails everyday sometimes just once a week. Just depends how often there is information to get out!

Once they have viewed the email!
All day and everyday
I do not send any emails to customers regarding consumable products. I am mainly in ad sales as it relates to non food & bev services.
