Our best advice is to do a good quality job with good customer service. Then once the job is done, ask if you have met or exceeded their expectations? If they answer “no”, find out what you could do better. If they answer “yes”, then ask them if they would post a positive review for you in google! The more positive reviews you get, the more people will want to use you! Good luck!

There are many ways you can use online marketing to get the results you want. You can promote your business organically – through content, and organic search results; alternatively, you can opt for paid advertising and promote your business across different social media channels or search engines.
1. The number one thing is, therefore, content. The king. Content across all your online channels – website, social media, local websites (such as communities, forums, discussions, etc.), industry-related websites, etc. should be explicit, valuable, and unique.
2. Search engine optimization aka SEO Search engine optimization is highly connected with content improvement, only so you could render your business more relevant to users’ search queries, i.e. whatever they might be searching for on Google or other search engines, such as Bing.
3. Local listings Google My Business, Bing Places, and Yelp allow you to list your local business in their directories, so consumers can discover your business more easily. These listings should be meticulously completed as to include details about your company, such as address, phone, and working hours, but also about products and/or services you’re offering, photos, and alike.
4. Social media You can use social media to increase your business’ visibility and reputation in so many ways! Since we have quite a number of social media platforms, you should pick those that suit your business most Google AdWords is the single most popular PPC advertising system in the world.
5. Search Engine Marketing- Billions of people search the web every day. Search engine marketing (SEM for short) is how you can get your ads in front of these future customers where it counts: in premium spots on the first page of search results. You set your own budget and are charged only when your ad is clicked. This makes SEM an affordable way to reach more customers for businesses of all sizes — including yours. Since you are busy running your business, Google Ads and Bing Ads helps you efficiently create, launch and manage your SEM ad campaign on Google, Bing and partner sites. You control the cost of search engine marketing and pay nothing for your ad to simply appear on the search engine. You are charged only if someone clicks on your ad, and only up to the amount that you agreed to for that click. That’s why SEM is also known as pay per click (PPC), because you only get charged for each click that your ad generates. No click? No charge

I've been on Home Advisor for over 12 years, unfortunately, you have to stay on top of the leads and quickly report bad leads ASAP. I typically spend close to $1,000 a month on leads but we make more than enough on those leads to justify the expense. We're also on Home Depot pro referral but those leads are usually no more than $150-$400 billed per job. There's also a company called Networx, I think the monthly charge for them starts around $300 but the leads are not as good as Home Advisor. If you're looking for commercial work to bid on, there's a website called CDC news that you can join for around $900 a year that publishes lists of jobs to bid on in most areas. I usually wouldn't try to offer advice to my competitors but if you promise not to expand to the Long Island, NY area, i'm happy to help. It would have been great if someone would have helped me when I first started out.

We have a web page on google that helps 'big-time' :-)

www.dallaselectricalcontractor.net that prople can leave reviews on.

Hey there, advise I can give you is hang in there. You are a young company. There is several avenues to get your name out there. Try BNI networking groups in your area, ac company’s, realtors but most of all do a quality job, be clean ( use drop clothes, booties) and clean up better than when you started.

Good luck !

Contact the home builders association in your area and ask to do a presentation at their next meeting or a list of home builders that your could e-mail a profile of your company. Check the phone book for a list of builders and send them a letter introducing your company, include projects you have completed. It is a matter of knocking on enough doors and building relationships.

From my experience Business networking groups are a great way to meet with people in the community and generate referrals. I started with BNI but moved to a smaller group with less dedication to fit my schedule. Any marketing and advertising you can do is great, I find word of mouth referral is best.

Word of mouth is the best way to grow a client base, but that will require patience. Expanding the different types of installations that you can take on helps a lot ... I have extensive training in communication cabling, Information Technology, structured cabling, all of which increase my exposure to new clients. It is a strong incentive for clients to be able to use a single contractor to take care of a wide array of technology needs. Be willing to take a hit every once in a while if necessary to maintain a good relationship with a general contractor or larger client. No need to make maximum bank on every job, it's a marathon ... not a sprint. I have developed relationships with general contractors, nursing homes, garage door companies, property development companies, real estate agents, landscapers and handy men (to name a few). Be honest with people, it is better to under-promise and over-deliver than the other way around.

Hope some of that is helpful

Great question! Today, there are so many free and low cost resources available to promote and drive traffic to your website. The first step is to put a strategic marketing plan in place with planned activities (In your case you will want a plan for both B2B & B2C).Posting consistently to your social media profiles and sending out regular newsletters are a great way to connect with your customers and increase  traffic and leads…be sure to include links to your website. Of course, just like everything in life...”what you put into it, is what you’ll get out of it” and there is a “right way & a wrong way”. Good thing there are also tons of free resources that can offer guidance. You can follow us on facebook and instagram for tips and posts we share from some of our favorites! Good luck and we are always available for you when you get too busy and just don’t have the time!

Paul, it takes time to build your business.  It comes down to Relationships.  A connection on social media is okay ...but a real handshake with a smile and a box of doughnuts is what people want.  Clarify real expectations for each job, and then exceed them.  There is a reason they say it takes 3-5 years to gain critical momentum in business.  If you're better than your competition, people will talk.
