How would you initially proceed connecting with new clients?
I wanted to post this question to see how others would connect with new leads they've acquired.
• Cold call them
• Email them
• Connect with them on social media
• Some other method
I look forward to hearing people's responses!

I start with a complimentary 15-minute Discovery Call.
- The sole purpose of this call is to find out if I can help them or if I need to refer them to one of my partners.
Then I set up a Sales call where I address their challenges, goals, plans, timeline and budget.
- During this call the lead is being qualified. If the lead is sales qualified, then we will move to the presentation stage.
Next, the presentation is scheduled in-person or through screen share (if the prospect isn't local)
- The payment amount is disclosed at the end of the presentation and an invoice is sent immediately.
With a few of the startups I’ve incubated we’ve used events to meet new prospects and network our new services. Also I’ve found a different road is to go through no -profits...there’s no shortage of those in Houston as I recall. Offer to do their graphics work for either gratisvor a very low rate to cover costs and you’ll get your name out there plus meet board members that gave other connections. This beats cold calling... but you have to do that too.
With a new client I want to actually talk with them and let them know who I am that they are important to me, ask them what they would like me to know about them and their business. By talking with them I discover by their tone of voice, and the conversation how I should communicate with them in the future, are the open and easy to interact with or are they guarded and protective. I am then better able to meet them in their space of comfort and build a trusting relationship for the long term. For my Home & Garden Shows I want to always try to have them with me for years and not for just one show. My exhibitors/clients are my best advertisement.
Howdy, Don and good morning... how're things in Houston? We prefer to establish a personal connection with readers/prospective clients and built an interface on which we can do that. We prefer to talk WITH people rather than pitch TO people. That has worked for us, at least and we're a totally digital operation. Best of luck!
we use all methods media kit emails calls and approche
I rarely cold call. Emailing and connecting with them on social media has worked best for me. It gives them the option of learning who you are about on their own time.
Great question and answers. Being a little old school, I would suggest an old fashioned way to use new technologies. I try to learn as much about a potential new client as quickly as possible. Usually, reading over their profile, posts, interests & contacts will give you a wealth of information. If potential seems great, I dig deeper with google search etc.
The best method by far is to cultivate an endless chain of referrals. This is far more efficient and productive than cold calling. I strongly recommend Jay Abraham’s materials on this topic. If implemented properly you will never have to cold call again.
