When I came to the US from the UK (over 30 years ago now), I wasn't allowed to work, so I did ski clothing alterations (I lived in Jackson Hole at the time).  Then the hotels wanted me to make all their draperies and bed coverings.  This grew so much that I eventually opened a small work room in town.  This enterprise grew into a very successful interior design business, with a small retail showroom, which I was eventually able to sell.  Go for it!  Just be good and...
