This is a trick question, right? When it comes to putting a business on the map on the Internet, video is the most important element. When you realize you have less than 2-minutes to get a prospect's attention online, an intro video is a must. Most websites still lead with stock photos that tell anyone anything about your business. If you want to create a web presence that people will respond to, you need to feature a video at the top of your homepage that tells them who you are, what you're all about and why they should do business with you. I'd also add at least one video testimonial from a satisfied customer. This seals the deal when it comes to credibility. Because when it comes to promoting a business online, there's no business like show business.

With the current tends, all industries benefit from short informational videos.

This again is a tool like any other marketing tactics. Everyone uses pretty much every tactic now that the online realm has allowed anyone with a phone to produce decent content.

It will come down to this....

  • What makes your product or service valuable no matter what!
  • Who is in this testimonial- should I even care
  • Why should I trust or like this business
  • Excuse my French but I don’t give a shit now- find a way I can’t help but at least be interested.

Do this his in every format and tactic you use!

I can promise you will do fine!

I totally agree! Every single industry benefits from video. With  this day and age, there are so many businesses that are similar in terms of what they offer, so how do you distinguish yourself from the rest?  With a video that tells a story. Not every video is necessarily effective, combining a bunch of clips together and calling that a promotional video might be easier to do, but it doesn't tell much about the business. Having worked in journalism for over 10 years, I learned that what captures people more is a story they can relate to, and video is the best medium to convey that sort of experience :)

What types of businesses would not benefit from video? Video is preferred by many, can move your position higher in Facebook and Instagram, is now being launched in LinkedIn. Video is here to stay and can demonstrate more than just pictures and words. Video should be part of every companies marketing.

I think it would help to know the purpose of the question. I would tend to agree generaly with Jeremy's assessment but I suspect their may be some industry out here for which video is not the greatest value.

If you're trying to decide what industries to focus on I'd recommend you consider starting with where you are most effective at creating a marketing message, if you will be the one producing the videos. If you became the "go to" for marketing videos for lawyers, realtors, chiropractors or some other niche, you'd probably have more success than if you took a all things to all people approach.

The magic in videos is being able to capture and communicate the message, so it's about storyboarding and that becomes easier when you know the industry and what motivates people to buy in that industry.

Can you expand on your reason for the question?

All industries benefit from video as google likes video and social media as well. New recommendations is a 30 second video. No one watches 3 minute long videos much.

Any product or service which is more complex to describe in words and better seen in action

All industries. Every type of business can benefit by explaining what they do, to get new clients, recruit new members to its team, to sell a product or service or charities. No matter what you do, video has become the most common way to stick out from competitive markets. Finding the right client is the hardest part sometime. but everyone needs it and how the Google algorithms and Facebook's, etc. video is given priority over images and text.

It is simple. Video is critical. That is why content is kind on television, radio, web or any other form of media, with video leading the way. Your video should be a representation of what your client can expect. This way you can better manage their expectations and have a happy client in the end. Some couple will  call you with a certain budget, but expect a video they saw on another site, that may have used multiple cameras, drones and lighting, with hours of footage that required edited. By showing them what you offer with your video sample they can decide if they want to spend $1,500 or $15,000 or somewhere in between.
