It really depends on the speakers and the content. I do research on the speakers and the conference.

Who will be there? Who is speaking? Is it just going to be a pitch fest?

Hi  Adrienne,

I used to go to just about everyone I could go to, but now I am more selective and look at the topics, speakers, and attendees to help me make a decision on going or not.

The opportunity to network with people that I would consider my clients.

I've always found the networking opportunities were of greater value than the presentation topics.  For me, the four most important things are location, who's attending, presentation materials, and cost.

Incredible speakers! If a conference has topics and speakers I'm interested in or that are relevant to my industry, it makes that conference much more enticing.

Information, Education and networking....

If I know I will see people who can help me further my career or not.

For me, the subject matter of the conference is critical, the location, the expected attendees, and opportunities to connect with attendees (small group sessions, activities, etc).  Also, it's important to me that the conference have balance and not be over packed with presentations.  For example, conferences with schedules that run from 8-5 is just too much.  I would rather see short conference schedules that allow for time to connect with people through activities off site (if the location is right) or in other ways.

When I began, I used to present seminars to interested groups on college campuses. Today, I don't travel when I can efficiently operate online with over 100 books featured at AMAZON.COM.
