Wearing my previous hat as a marketing analyst, events yield the highest ROI.
Event present opportunities to network and connect with other product/service providers. There really is no downside - allow me to explain.
I recently attended a social media event near my hometown. There were 140 people in attendance and many of them would likely not be fit to be clients of my Hubspot/Salesforce consultancy. Still, the return was worthwhile.
I was able to connect with the guest speakers and lock down content projects to leverage online with my community. We have roughly 6 content projects on lock right now which we plan to spin into ebooks (generating leads), blog posts, Instagram stories, podcasts, and more.
While at the event, I also found 3 businesses looking for help with Hubspot (my bread and butter). We're going through trial projects together right now.
Outside of that, exposure at an event is good. You're able to personably place yourself in front of audiences and represent your brand.

Given that we are in one of the three longest recession cycles, we are going to be headed for a recession. Have you or can you make your business recession proof.
I careful of what conferences I choose. I have 2 motivations. One is to find potential associates, but even more important is to learn and keep up with the latest trends from experts in the field
