It's been an unexpected year. No matter how you fared, what were some silver linings for your business as you look back? Was the year as tough as you anticipated?

How busy we have been.  If you would have asked me in March if I thought I would still be in business I don't know what I would have told you.  Now on January 1st we will celebrated our 75th year in business,

It has enabled me to have more time to work on marketing as well as grow the document translation part of the business. This has also greatly reduced my commute time. In addition, we now offer ASL (American Sign Language) interpretation through video. We will be adding more languages in the coming year.

My business changed a bit in not seeing clients in person and not being able to enjoy my networking groups. The need for life insurance, long tern care plans and Medicare supplements has not gone away. My office is in my home so no big changes there. I do miss the interaction between my clients, fianacial advisors and wealth managers. Next year will be better. Happy holidays to all.

The silver lining for me was the fact that i knew that i would survive the virus. I had it back in March and kept in contact with my buyers. Then once i was better I was able to show them properties even with the virus all around us. It has been a memorable year and has left me a lot closer with people in general and giving me a more understanding of people and their wants and thoughts. Therefore, i have become a better listener of their wants and needs since i spent a lot more time with them on the phone and the internet even before showing them any properties at all. Traditionally my student harp ensemble performs several times in December at churches, hospitals and Hospice. Due to the pandemic, our rehearsals were curtailed, and our performances were cancelled. With only 2 rehearsals before the Covid spike hit we recorded our holiday harp music, and sent the videos to 5 churches, Smilow Cancer Hospital and Hospice. Because we were forced to record, rather than perform live, we were able to share our holiday harp music with a much wider audience. Maybe we will do it on purpose next year!

Silver lining for us at Vollara is being able to share our Air and Surface Pro purifier -- It's been a 'best of times for us as it has been 'the worst of times' for far too many.  Our company has maintained ample inventory for us to ship out to our customers to meet their needs for safer air and sanitized surfaces throughout their homes and businesses

2020 was certainly a change in our business.  We flirted with remote work in the past, but were forced to implement it this year.  I personally love it as long as you have boots on the ground to go to court.  I anticipate the near future will have lawyers doing jury trial by Zoom or some other platform.  Test trials in venues other than Oklahoma have had positive reviews.  WE have been busy this year but the revenue numbers are lower.

My Design Resumes business was already positioned as virtual using Zoom as the technology four years earlier and virtual with other technologies since 2008. This enabled me to continue to deliver coaching and writing with clients. If anything, now clients are more familiar with Zoom than in the past.

Strategically, I increased tools for clients to make them more successful job seekers and networkers by expanding LinkedIn coaching and emphasizing content marketing with every client. I added the Jobsearch Program, a 6-week audio program created by Jason Alba as a support system for clients every package level. This keeps the job seeker moving and gives me additional coaching opportunities.

I increasingly leveraged partner relationships with career industry partners to provide products and services to my clients.

The placement of automotive services and related business included in the "Essential" category made my day. The only major adjustment that affected me that AMSOIL Inc. made, until further notice, was the "No Distribution Pick-up" at distribution centers, ie. shipping only. The "working from" option for some AMSOIL Inc. employees affected those in headquarters or distribution centers. As an independent dealer with my dealer web site  I experienced an increase of income compared to last year.

This year has been tough mentally thus making it hard to find motivation. But sales are picking up because of the shop local complain.
