Where would you go to find someone to do your website? (I'm a web developer looking where clients gather)

I'm not sure where to focus my energy right now. All my clients are referrals and I've never needed to advertise. I want to beef up my business now and am wonder where business owners are searching to find web devs, graphic artists, and social media help. Thanks!

Did any of you even read, Kolleen's question?

I am in the same boat as you, Kolleen.  I am trying to find business owners to coach.  I'm not sure how you want to grow your practice; but if you are simply trying to get more clients for yourself; local networking groups are probably your best bet.  If you want to expand your web-design services into a web-development firm, you will want to create a higher volume marketing campaign probably through social media.  There are some creative tactics on LinkedIn where you can target the types of clients you want.  That is the direction I plan to go with my coaching practice.

Where can we see examples of your work?

Hey Kolleen! Similarly, I had a hard time finding people to help me at first. I built my web design company starting out with subcontractors I found on WordPress-specific job boards (we only build in WP). Craigslist was tough because most of the people I found were flaky and had a hard time completing jobs.

On that note, please let me know if you need any help completing some projects. I'd be happy to see if we can help you!

Building a website will take a lot of your time.  And....you have to write your own copy.  Angela McCormack from Pure Logic Tax Service is giving you the best advice.
Remember to get a legal "assignment" piece of paper whereas the website builders assign the website to you as sole owner; otherwise, you have no proof that the website is yours, and of course, make sure there are back up copies of your website in either DropBox, on in your own computer.  Your website is prime real estate in cyberspace, it is also your intellectual property.

Great question Kolleen, the best answer that I could give is... it depends on your industry. If you’re a doctor or lawyer you have a lot different requirements than if you’re a retail store or restaurant. Because your question is a common one we have created a fully managed digital marketing program (for doctors, dentists, lawyers, realtors, contractors...) that helps to build your reputation throughout your community and generate a steady stream of leads and new patients. We team secure online marketing, geolocation marketing (Google maps, etc…), virtual assistant marketing (Siri, Alexa, Google, etc…), SEO, brand management, reputation management, and more to build you a reliable and profitable marketing framework. We manage every aspect of the campaign so that you are free to focus on your clients.  Check out our website for more information... www.tolerogroup.com best of luck, Emma

I built my own for several years with engines until I could afford to hire a company and an IT specialist on staff.  When I hired a company, I simply looked at the websites that were like the one I needed and felt was very well designed for that particular profession and called them for a quote.  I made my decision based on the support and service that I received from their technical department.

Have you considered hosting an event?  Though only mid-August, feels like seasons are changing ~ gather satisfied clients at a casual, social "Happy Hour" for and ask them to bring at least one guest that would benefit from similar services (RSVP a must).  These types of engagements are a terrific way for people to meet and see you so they possibly feel comfortable enough to dive into web-service; sharing their vision and the pitfalls/frustrations with their current web space.  On another note, take advantage of chamber, BBB, county hosted events and more ... see what's listed near you on all social media sites.

I'm a Business Advisor and have been working with clients for 14 years helping them to grow their businesses!  I have a referral program set up with my clients that generates quite a bit of client's and belong to a lot of social media groups. I'd be happy to help anyone who needs a reliable resource for all your software and lead generation needs.

The best place to start is attending networking events. If you're located in Long Island, I'd recommend Simply Referrals. Good luck!
