LOL. There were so many hats to wear and so may functions to master. Of all the tasks before me, I was in mortal fear of the cash register.
Prior to opening a shop, I had spent 30 years handling large transactions for my real estate clients. But that 'money' was all on paper. Ringing up sales and balancing the till at the end of the day were long forgotten skills.

I was in a very bad car accident in 1993 and had suffered back injuries. Though I tried working for other people in 1994, I was forced to start my own company. At first I was in the environmental industry and loved the feeling of being my own boss. Then I had an opportunity in 1998 to get into the insulation business and did not look back since. Granted it has not been all pie in the sky, cherry Sunday owning my own company and life has sure taught me so very hard lessons.. more than I care to admit. But I made the leap of faith on that day.
My 1st inspection, I spent 10 hours performing an inspection on a newly constructed 3 bedroom 2 bath home. Now I spend much less time performing inspections however, taking my time and being thorough is still my number one goal while performing inspections.

I remember this day..man I didn't no what was going to happen I just stepped out on faith, before that NO ONE WOULD HELP ME OR GIVE ME A REAL CHANCE. I had a few offers of very limited options with some serious consequences. to say the less, I now have been in business for 10 years and counting, GOD IS GOOD!
February 1st–2 over 2 years ago I was let go from my position as creative director. Out of necessity I became self-employed and started doing business as ON BLAST CREATIVE immediately. http://www.onblastcreative.com
I remember! My first business was as a co-owner of an auto-repair shop. The building originally belonged to my father, sold to my brother, then sold to me. I was so excited and proud (and nervous) to start the journey!

I do remember my first day of business. Very excited to open my doors. Not many customers came through the door but I persevered
My first day, we were told our opening was delayed 3 weeks due to a gas leak.
