Will you be writing about your experience?

This is such a strange time for us all. As a writer, do you find your 'creative juices' are flowing at this time? Or are you perhaps keeping track of the minutiae of your days, in order to preserve your memories of this unique experience?

I've written some blog posts with advice for colleagues both used to and new to working at home:

Other writing and editing/proofreading projects are moving along pretty much as normal. I don't expect to do a lot more writing about the current crisis, although I've been responding to discussion list and Facebook posts about the situation.

I am writing and working of other creative projects every day.

I am hoping to blog about the Covid situation but with working my regular job I am more tired than usual. I’m having trouble concentrating and staying on task.

How about you? Are you quarantined or still working? I’m considered essential and have just been taking precautions. I hope it’s enough.

Yes, to both questions. I'm currently finishing on my third novel, Searching for Sarah, while starting on my fourth. I have over thirty manuscripts in development, so the juices continue to flow. I do plan on incorporating our current circumstances in a future release.

I write novels; I write what makes sense based on the subject matter.

I believe it is necessary to have a positive Mindset.  Some of the best opportunities are available after a crisis.

I am keeping a diary of sorts. Also taking a ZOOM "fiction intensive" class. I had written much of a "medical memoir" but will wait to see if I survive! I was happy to see that Shakespeare wrote "King Lear" while quarantined during the plague. Thank you for asking.

I plan to write some fiction based on this situation, when the time is right. Right now, I feel that if I put out my idea, I'd have to follow it with "Too soon?" Yes, too soon. That being said, I'm busy writing a lot of other work unrelated to current circumstances.

I actually write about my experiences all the time. I have to wait and see how this will end.

Maybe I will write about this and maybe it will be something I'll just leave behind unless something from this experience inspires me to write.

I am as mystified as you are where my creativity comes from.  Emotions come and go and I just try to be ready to write when the mood does arrive.  I find that listening to music triggers my emotions that I can then pour into my writing.  I just had a big piece accepted in Hunt Alaska Magazine for its fall issue, and I had to force it, but it turned out better than expected.  I wrote without the emotional trigger, but instead a May 1 deadline. So that was different.  It’s always worth setting down and trying even when you aren’t feeling it...because sometimes it works.  If either of my 80 year old parents get this virus I will have plenty to think about and plenty to write.  I hope not.
