How We Got Started

CPB Started out with our founder, Carolann Brockman, leaving the field of teaching high school mathematics in 2005 and returning to her roots in the world of accounting and bookkeeping; What is Reconstruction? fixing your very incomplete, messy, horribly out of balance QuickBooks file

2006 began working with a land title company as their escrow bookkeeper, and cleaned up 4 escrow accounts and recouped sever tens of thousands of outstanding accounts.....

Carolann found her passion in organizing a company's "drawer" of unopened statements, statements, invoices, receipts and recording every transaction into QuickBooks without journal entries, so every transactions was verified and categorized in anticipation of an IRs AUDIT.....

Systems were created so All of the documents were notated, recorded and filed again in anticipation of AN IRS AUDIT....

Word began to get around of the quality of work Carolann did and her phone began to ring....

I like to go into downtowns and walk around in the different stores... I really do not take time out most of the time and when i do, I like to see what is out there, talk to the owners in the store, find out about how they got started in the business and then purchase something for 1 or 2 family... I love doing this because I want to know more about my community and who is out there....Meeting people and building relationships....That's what we do....

I am a small business and I believe the first thing is respect and communication....communication with them and them with you....and be very honest in your communication...if they have done a great job, give them a memo with a great image on it congratulating them and if there is a concern, send... (more) I am a small business and I believe the first thing is respect and communication....communication with them and them with you....and be very honest in your communication...if they have done a great job, give them a memo with a great image on it congratulating them and if there is a concern, send them a memo saying you have a few questions to go over....and never make things personal....always be very objective on what the goal was and what was expected for the customer and discuss how to make it better the next time....People on your team need to know that you have an open communication....and as I tell my team when we first meet, I tell them when I have my working hat on, I do not "fluff" communication nor do I beat around the flowers....Be honest and transparent....This has been my philosophy....Sincerely, Carolann the Bookkeeper

How would I leverage if I had some free time???? Since we really, really love what we do with our clients and offer them the most extreme bookkeeping service we can offer, I would reach out to other businesses and forge relationships to let them know what we offer...to demonstrate to them through... Since we really, really love what we do with our clients and offer them the most extreme bookkeeping service we can offer, I would reach out to other businesses and forge relationships to let them know what we offer...to demonstrate to them through educational reports how we can develop strategies to streamline their bookkeeping/accounting needs so they would have a better leverage time to build their business passion back...where they can take more "legal" expenses with IRS guidelines on documented receipts....and to relieve their frustration and anxiety from their lives with their books....This is what I would like to do....Sincerely, Carolann the Bookkeeper

Wow, my first client.....in 2007 I had a magnetic sign made for my car and it read CPB Bookkeeping no job too small and no job too big and in big letters "The Organizer"....and my phone number and my little guy jumping up saying "Yippee it's balanced".....and I was in a parking lot of a gas... (more) Wow, my first client.....in 2007 I had a magnetic sign made for my car and it read CPB Bookkeeping no job too small and no job too big and in big letters "The Organizer"....and my phone number and my little guy jumping up saying "Yippee it's balanced".....and I was in a parking lot of a gas station, and a gentleman approached me and asked - "is that sign true? any kind of bookkeeping job?" and I replied yes.....So we set up a time to meet and discuss and when we met he had with him a HUGE dresser drawer filled with unopened bank statements, invoices, statements, receipts and all kinds of STUFF.... He told me his business and that he could not figure out how much his customers owed him, nor did he know how much he had paid his vendors.....Well, we agreed on what I would do and when it would be completed and it would be on a flash drive for his accountant....I took the HUGE dresser drawer home, and began going through all of the items, separating into dates, types, receipts from invoices and within 1.5 days, I had the entire drawer emptied and everything was separated and into piles of what was to be captured.....it took me about 1 week to record everything into QB and secure all of the statements, invoices, etc into file folders and affixed with acco-fasteners.....and it was the MOST FUN I HAD HAD in a very long time...... SO, how did I get my first client? Sitting in a parking lot with my magnetic sign "The Organizer" no job too small, no job too big.....and the rest is history.....my clients have come to me word of mouth, people telling someone else about what we can do with a huge box of "Stuff"......My passion for people and their businesses has only increased with time, and my love for what I do has increased.....and knowing that I have brought frustration and anxiety levels down for a small business owner and him realizing that it not about how much it costs, but how much better he felt afterward that counted.....we stayed in touch for about 3 years until he sold his business.....and I am sitting here writing this and smiling at how much security he felt knowing his books were being reconstructed and restored by someone who had a sign on their car with their little guy jumping up and reading "Yippee It's Balanced".....because I really love what I do....I thank you for asking this question Tikia, and thank Jo from Alignable for asking me to give my answer to this question.....I hope this was not too long, however, the question was asked....Thank you, Carolann the Bookkeeper
