Wow, my first client.....in 2007 I had a magnetic sign made for my car and it read CPB Bookkeeping no job too small and no job too big and in big letters "The Organizer"....and my phone number and my little guy jumping up saying "Yippee it's balanced".....and I was in a parking lot of a gas station, and a gentleman approached me and asked - "is that sign true? any kind of bookkeeping job?" and I replied yes.....So we set up a time to meet and discuss and when we met he had with him a HUGE dresser drawer filled with unopened bank statements, invoices, statements, receipts and all kinds of STUFF.... He told me his business and that he could not figure out how much his customers owed him, nor did he know how much he had paid his vendors.....Well, we agreed on what I would do and when it would be completed and it would be on a flash drive for his accountant....I took the HUGE dresser drawer home, and began going through all of the items, separating into dates, types, receipts from invoices and within 1.5 days, I had the entire drawer emptied and everything was separated and into piles of what was to be captured.....it took me about 1 week to record everything into QB and secure all of the statements, invoices, etc into file folders and affixed with acco-fasteners.....and it was the MOST FUN I HAD HAD in a very long time...... SO, how did I get my first client? Sitting in a parking lot with my magnetic sign "The Organizer" no job too small, no job too big.....and the rest is history.....my clients have come to me word of mouth, people telling someone else about what we can do with a huge box of "Stuff"......My passion for people and their businesses has only increased with time, and my love for what I do has increased.....and knowing that I have brought frustration and anxiety levels down for a small business owner and him realizing that it not about how much it costs, but how much better he felt afterward that counted.....we stayed in touch for about 3 years until he sold his business.....and I am sitting here writing this and smiling at how much security he felt knowing his books were being reconstructed and restored by someone who had a sign on their car with their little guy jumping up and reading "Yippee It's Balanced".....because I really love what I do....I thank you for asking this question Tikia, and thank Jo from Alignable for asking me to give my answer to this question.....I hope this was not too long, however, the question was asked....Thank you, Carolann the Bookkeeper
