The construction industry is constantly faced with this problem since there is no licensing in PA and the contractor registration means little. One path is to affiliate yourself with a Professional Trade Organization that has a code of ethics and a process to follow if we have members who may not perform as they should. Joining such an organization demonstrates that you want to be known as a professional and to support your industry.
All the comments I am reading confirm what I have been saying all along. Anyone pursuing a contractor from a company that says it is a "free" service and yet spends thousands of dollars advertising almost constantly is not the client professional contractors want or need.

All the comments I am reading confirm what I have been saying all along. Anyone pursuing a contractor from a company that says it is a "free" service and yet spends thousands of dollars advertising almost constantly is not the client professional contractors want or need.
We have established, within our HBA and for our members, a BNI or LeTips type Networking and Referral group that meets every two weeks. It benefits all of our members by using the "Areas of Influence" we all have to promote one another. It is based upon getting to know each other well and being familiar enough to be willing and able to give a word of mouth endorsement. Best of all, it is working. Every time we meet we get testimonies about how well!
Do not overlook your fellow members in your local HBA or trade association. We have formed what we call M2M Networking. We meet the second and fourth Tuesday of every month to build relationships, share leads and referrals, and address issues in the industry. It has been very effective in...
