I out source, labor intensive tasks occassionally.  Primary Reason: we are growing rapidly, and making alliances with local companies to handle labor intensive tasks.  It cuts down on our work load, especially when it's something we don't usually do. Try "Warm Calling". Go into local business, inquire about their cleaning needs and get the managers card. Wait a few weeks and then call? No longer a cold call. Just state it was a pleasure meeting you on (day), and I just wanted to follow up and see if your cleaning needs are still being met.... (more) Try "Warm Calling". I've built my small business to over 200k annually. Door knocking is where a majority of my business has been built. It puts you in front of the decision maker and allows you to access their cleaning needs if you ask for a quick tour of the facility. ** Minimal cost - I don't pay for print advertising when I have no idea what it will bring in, if anything.

Then ask if they wouldn't mind if you sent them a quote !!! We do Commercial work - which makes it easier to make contact with our targeted market. Doing Residential is a whole different animal. ;)

Because we work mostly overnight shifts, and I have employees with small children. I allow them to leave the ringer on, but phones all stay at one station. We as the Owners, wind up doing a majority of the work ourselves due to inability to find reliable employees. In our area average pay is $8.00 hr, we offer $9.50-$10.00 and still deal with no-shows, people who call in at the last minute. However, when we do have employees, we make our rounds... In our area average pay is $8.00 hr, we offer $9.50-$10.00 and still deal with no-shows, people who call in at the last minute. However, when we do have employees, we make our rounds and they don't leave until we inspect the work done. To insure no complaints from our clients. As a result we have built a very solid business reputation as company.
