As an employer I appreciate the wisdom and experience of the "older" employee. I have found that they are more reliable and the experience can be worth far more than the meager wage they make. Yes, there are hurdles to overcome each time, such as the notion that they know better and they try to take over control. This is often remedied with solid training and on boarding procedures.
