How do you ease patients’ fear?
Answered by:
Amazing question Doc. It is interesting as many dentists are more focus on procedures without asking important question to the patient related to past traumas when visiting dentist. Beside physical history of the patient, dentist MUST ask questions related to mental aspect of how dentist can cause anxiety due to various reasons. I wrote an article about that recently

Dr Amzallag -Thanks for your thoughtful comment. Indeed, many dentists are only focused on treating oral disease. They often don't take the time to get to know their patients. While dentists are not mental health therapists, it is important to recognize behaviors associated with anxiety or fear and to understand the root cause of that fear. Taking the time to communicate and discover why the patient feels afraid is the first step towards helping him or her overcome their fear.

Oral health is crucial for a healthy life. Gum disease and other problems can get worst if not treated. Nothing to ignore
